Humanity in Retrograde
We are irrational.
We are unscientific.
We are uncivil.
We were the United States of America.
One may believe in a supreme being(s), savior(s), or creator(s) and retain the virtuous qualities of science, civil society, and rationality... of justice... yet there are organizations of violent and repressive personalities who cannot, and they wish to drag our society down to their level of simplicity and religious compliance through the use of force, by "popularly" rewriting or reinterpreting laws, or by outright subterfuge. Theirs is not an aspiration to succeed as a human race, but to collectively fail, to resist or sabotage the advances of centuries in fullfillment of an ancient biblical prophecy of death and destruction. Theirs is a life which has been forsaken for the promise of the next. Gone are the days when they'd burn witches, stone adulterers and unwed mothers... Our prisons are full of those who merely displease them, who only scare them, and there is little room left for those who truly deserve to be there. The laws of man are undermined by those who still hold dear the laws of absent gods. Many elected representatives are in violation of their oaths to uphold the Constitution in order to bend it to the will of their religious leaders, becoming religious leaders in their own right. Saints of the ignorant. Saviors of none but themselves.
If I were God, I know who I'd be disappointed in.
